Events at COP28

The Alternative Proteins Association is delighted to be hosting and participating in several events at the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), which is hosted in Dubai from Thursday, 30 November, to Tuesday, 12 December.

APA co-hosted event: 'COP28 Food Night' networking cocktail

Tuesday, 5 December | 6-8:30 pm Dubai time

The Coller Foundation, Alternative Proteins Association and ProVeg International, supported by Compassion in World Farming and Mercy for Animals, will be hosting a private networking reception hosted by Jeremy Coller.

We hope that this event will provide an informal opportunity for investors, businesses, governments and international institutions, philanthropies and NGOs to exchange ideas on how protein diversification could support the transition to a more sustainable food system alongside other climate solutions. APA co-hosted Event: Why alternative proteins are the best climate investment

Sunday, 10 December |  16:10-17:00 |  Tech and Innovation Hub (Green Zone)

This 45min panel discussion, moderated by Dr Miray Zaki, will showcase alternative proteins as a promising investment option to achieve climate goals. We will hear from the experience of four leading alt protein companies, which all have proven technologies demonstrating scalability. Two are members of APA. They focus on plant-based protein, cultured meat, and biomass fermentation. The discussion will focus on their emissions profiles in relation to the products they are competing with and how alternative proteins are a better dollar to dollar investment for climate purposes.

APA-hosted Event: Cultured Meat – a myth or reality?

Sunday, 10 December | 17:00 - 17:35 |  Tech and Innovation Hub (Green Zone)

This 30min panel discussion, moderated by Dr Miray Zaki, will discuss whether cultured meat is feasible at scale. We will hear from the experience of two cultured meat companies with proven technologies (both members of APA), as well as the Good Food Institute (GFI).
